ShakeDown Radio with Chris Caggs – Australia’s Sonic Ambassador for RnB, Hip Hop, Dance & EDM From the heart of Sydney to dance floors around the globe, ShakeDown Radio is a 2-hour genre-blending journey curated and hosted by Chris Carragher, professionally known as Chris Caggs. With nearly 30 years in Australian radio, Chris fuses golden-era RnB, classic Hip Hop, tribal House, Afro rhythms, Soul, and cutting-edge EDM into a seamless and soulful mix. Every episode invites listeners into a world of exclusives, promos, white-label gems, and storytelling that spans decades and continents. 🎧 Broadcast Legacy Chris’s radio career began in July 1998 at Pump FM 99.3FM, Australia’s first Hip Hop & RnB community station, co-hosting with Mista-C. Pump FM evolved into Dance Radio 99.3FM, then Dance FM 94.5FM, carrying Chris’s signature blend of soulful and dance sounds. In 1998, Chris joined DJ-FM 87.6FM, Sydney’s 24/7 dance station run by Roberts Media Group, broadcasting across the CBD with DJs like Frank Chiment, Antonio Avati, Joe Avati, Susie Stapleton, and Rob Brizzi. Sponsors included Central Station Records, Telstra, and Pulse Music, with Rebecca Tynan heading marketing and communications. Chris was a central figure at Groove FM Sydney (94.5FM/96.9FM) from 1999–2001, where he hosted breakfast and weekend shows and managed music programming, working alongside Darren Leigh, Mike Scott, Fabrizio Vilardo, and entertainment personalities including Andrew G (Channel [V]), Bessie Bardot, Rene Rivkin, Natasha Zuvela, and DJ Nino Brown. In 2000, Groove FM expanded to Brisbane (97.3FM), and Chris took on breakfast hosting and programming duties, collaborating with Fez Lateef (Added Flava), Adrian Day, Kristian Hernandez, Scott Ferris, and others. Chris also spent 10 years at 2RDJ-FM 88.1 Burwood, delivering Hip Hop, RnB, and Dance with local talent including MC Maurice, DJ Ales K, and DJ Fly Girl Tee, later hosting Thursday Flavours and filling in for Soulscope with Georgina Reed.
